There are 3 different ways that a charitable organization can qualify
to be part of the Melaleuca Charitable Organization Program.
The charitable organization must meet one of the following qualifications listed below:

A 501 C3 (149.1 in Canada) Organization:
The organization would have a determination letter from their respective tax agency.
A copy of this letter needs to be submitted with the other forms.

A Not for Profit Corporation:
Incorporated through their respective State.
A copy of the entities date stamped Articles of Incorporation must accompany the other forms.

A Self declared religious organization:
This could be a small religious group, non-denominational church or religious group that is not incorporated.
A letter of structure needs to accompany the other forms.

All Paper work must be completed and faxed in:
When a charitable organization decides to become preferred,
Melaleuca will need to receive all of the necessary paperwork before the enrollment will be preferred and the first order is placed.

Listed below is a list of what paperwork is needed

Melaleuca Customer Agreement
This agreement needs to be completed using the charitable organization name and other information

Melaleuca Independent Marketing Executive Agreement
This agreement needs to be completed using the charitable organization name and other information

Melaleuca 501c Tax Exempt Organization Application and Agreement

In order to be setup as a preferred customer,
Melaleuca requires that a entity have a federal tax id number
which is also referred to as an EIN number.
Please check one of the boxes in this area.

The contact person is the person that will be placing orders on the account and is willing to be contacted concerning the entity.

The authorized representative is the person that is authorized to make
decisions on behalf of the entity.

The authorized representative will sign this form along with the customer agreement and the independent marketing executive agreement

ENROLLING A NON PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION

Enrolling a charitable organization is much like enrolling a regular
customer with Melaleuca.
However there are some key differences.
One key difference is that a charitable organization does not pay the
enrollment fee.
They are sent a Charitable Organization Welcome Kit in place of the Business
Kit.
If a charitable organization would like to purchase a Business Kit, they are welcome to do so at the regular fee.
Another key difference to understand is that the organization itself is not a business builder. It will never change status.

The reason for this is that a charitable organization does not build the
business.
The charitable organization does not enroll customers.
Because of this a charitable organization will never be required to purchase
more then their 35 product point minimum.

Processing paperwork for a charitable organization can take more time then
a normal enrollment.
It can take up to 7 days to process from the time that Melaleuca receives that paperwork for it to be processed.
Once the paperwork is verified by Melaleuca, the entity will become a
preferred customer and receive the promotion for the month that the entity becomes a preferred customer.

The entity will count as a new customer for the enroller at that time as well.

Remember that charitable organizations cannot be enrolled over the phone
or over the internet. The paperwork needs to be faxed or mailed to Melaleuca.

Open Positions
What is an “open position"?
Melaleuca has established a way for an entity to be placed in an organization before they actually become preferred.
This is referred to as an “Open Position”. By doing this, it provides the
opportunity for the enroller of the charitable organization to see what
kind of response can be garnered and start placing customers in the
organization below the charitable organization.
Once an entity decides to become preferred there will be an organization
already structured under the charitable organization so the entity will
start to receive checks.

How an open position works
This open position can be held for up to 6 months from the month of enrollment. For example if I open a position in May I would have until the end of December
to get the charitable organization preferred before the open position would
close. In the event that the entity does not become preferred after the 6 month window expires, normal rollup procedures would take place.

What are the benefits?
There are some benefits to establishing an open position. As mentioned before, if the charitable organization does not want to be setup preferred right away or if there is problem getting all of the documentation, the charitable organization can be placed in the enroller’s organization so other enrollments can be placed. In addition to that once that the organization becomes preferred and there are others placed beneath the organization commissions will start to be paid to the charitable organization.

How to set up an "open position"
In order to establish an open position Melaleuca needs to receive a Customer Agreement with the name, address and phone number of the entity and the lead enroller and the marketing executive. We do not need to have a method of payment or signatures.

We also need to receive an Independent Marketing Executive Agreement with the name address and phone number.
The final piece of documentation that we need to have sent to Melaleuca is the 501c tax exempt form.
Again all that is needed is the name, address and telephone number of the entity.
Please write “OPEN POSITION” across the top of all pieces of paperwork being sent to Melaleuca when doing the open position. Once the entity decides that they do want to become preferred customers then Melaleuca needs to receive all new paperwork with signatures and current dates
